Horoscopes: July 17th thru the 24th

Medieval Crab

For the week of July 17th thru the 24th, be sure to read your Rising Sign as well:

Aries

When the Sun enters Leo on the 22nd, get ready for your batteries to be supercharged. But first we’re going to be doubling down in reflective and emotional Cancer. For everyone, but especially Aries, this is a sign associated with home and family, with security, safety and belonging. There may be a certain longing for that special place where you can actually go to recharge your batteries. In your heart of hearts you may have your ideal. But there are also practicalities to consider as well: your partner may have a very different idea about what that means; you may feel that you can’t quite afford that luxury right now; there’s too much to do; you’ve got certain obligations. With all the bother and mess involved, you may decide to stay where you are for now. And although presently it may not be feasible or practical, in some way you are being asked to pause and think in terms of what it means for you to have that sense of belonging, that feeling of security, safety… home.

Taurus

Saturn has come back to Capricorn for some unfinished business. For Taurus that can be about reassessing your beliefs, and even putting them to the test. Do your beliefs hold up in practice? How do they hold up against a strong argument? It’s one thing to believe something, it’s another thing when you actually put it into application. It may not seem all that important right now, but it will in the long run. And it may well be that you find yourself reflecting on the past few years, the connections you’ve made, the ideas that you’ve shared, and how these have impacted your whole philosophy on life. If recent conflicts have arisen, the New Moon in Cancer on Monday can help you to look at these conflicts more objectively: consolidate, synthesize what you have learned, and look for confirmation to reaffirm what you know in your heart of hearts to be true.

Gemini

Innovation, creativity and the ingenuity to look for solutions and ideas that may be a little off the beaten track, could open up a whole new world for you this week. Allow your curiosity to lead you where you need to go, and be open to alternatives that just may surprise you. Mercury is finally direct again, and shadow or no shadow, it could feel like things are finally beginning to move forward. And, it also gives you the opportunity to take a second look at any commitments you’ve already made or are thinking about making. Now that Saturn has returned to Capricorn, you are being asked to test out commitments and investments for longevity and sustainability. It’s interesting to see the ways that others value you, vs. how much you value yourself. That also may surprise you. With the New Moon in Cancer, this is a good time for you to reassess your priorities in order to be clear about where you want to invest your valuable, time, money and resources.

Cancer

With two New Moons in your sign this season, we are doubling down on all things Cancer. Think of it as something of a crescendo after the last two years. You were being asked to find yourself in the scheme of things. Not through what others’ expectations are of you, or how you are or are not defined through others and your relationships. It’s about finding yourself in the scheme of things: what is right for you, what your needs are, where you belong. Having that sense of clarity about yourself, will allow you to also make the correct decisions, when and where opportunities may arise in the foreseeable future. The first New Moon, which fell on June 21st, was something of a preview. This New Moon on July 20th, represents both the culmination and synthesis not only of the past month, but of the last year. What have you learned over the past year? What new things have you begun, that you want to further develop? Where do you see yourself going from here?

Leo

Before you can freely make a new beginning, you will first have to wind up any loose ends and bring to completion what is still undone. This may be literal, such as bringing old projects to their final completion. Or practical, such as taking care of necessary paperwork and red tape. Or it may concern a health issue, or some other obstacle that’s been holding you back. Or it may be emotional and psychological, preparing yourself internally for the next phase that is about to unfold. Something is needing to unfold, release, let go, and move on. Even if there are some obstacles or limitations standing in your way. Think of these as fortuitous, even if they may not seem so at the time. You are being held back for a reason. Some things simply cannot be rushed. By the end of next week, as we finally enter your season, there will still be a sense of finality, even if and when you finally take that next step forward, trailing tendrils of longing with every step, both for what once was, as well as with anticipation for what will be.

Virgo

Although we are still technically in the retrograde ‘shadow’, Mercury is now direct. And it could even feel as if you have woken from a dream, able to make connections, and see things clearly in ways that have recently been evading you. As a result you will be able to see solutions where previously you only saw problems. Well, if anyone can figure things out, it’s going to be you. We depend on you to sort things out and put things all back together. To make sense of the insensible. And that goes for all of your key relationships and associations as well. By now, it should be evident which of these are no longer working out, and need to be brought to some kind of closure, if you haven’t already. And which are those that are worth your hard won time and emotional resources. If you have not already cut the old cords that bound you, Saturn has returned to make sure that you have, once and for all, cleared the field so that new budding relationships can now thrive.

Libra

There’s a lot of stuff on your old hard drive cache that needs to be cleared out before you can proceed. What’s still lingering from the past that you no longer need in your life, have outgrown, or is holding you back and preventing you from growing? Saturn has returned to Capricorn and is telling you that enough is enough already. You have been working hard to establish your identity within your community, and you don’t want any old narratives trying to get in the way. Any lingering tendrils that still remain are just going to weigh you down. So why not clear them out? Saturn is excellent for setting boundaries, saying no, and being clear with yourself about what your limits are. You know what they are. Those are the things that raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Once you lay the past to rest, then you can work on securing your future, and making sure that it’s a true reflection of who you are, and your heartfelt desire of what you wish to accomplish.

Scorpio

This second New Moon in Cancer is urging you to explore your horizons, and broaden your possibilities. But there are things still standing in the way. Once and for all, you cannot make a new beginning, until you take care of all the details first. Cross your t’s and dot your i’s. You are truly inspired and ready to take on the world. And you will have plenty of time to put your ideas into application. But there are documents to sign, paperwork needing to be taken care of, and itineraries to be sorted out. In some ways this New Moon is like a second chance. It could also act like a power booster for whatever was started with the Solar Eclipse on June 21st. An idea that was brewing then can be revisited and taken up again. And now that Mercury is direct again, perhaps all the bugs have been worked out, giving you the green light to move ahead with your vision. If you’ve been sitting on the fence, you should be feeling a little more confident moving forward from here on.

Sagittarius

For the past few years you’ve been situating yourself in order to make the most of your opportunities, and create a plan that will be sustainable and achievable. That may have also included a number of willing sacrifices having to be made in order to make a much-hoped-for goal a closer reality. Even if this meant having to tighten the belt, and make a few sacrifices. It hasn’t always been easy, and there may have been moments when you feared that the wolf may be howling at the door. But you may actually be on the brink of seeing some of your dreams become a closer reality. That deal that you’ve been hoping to close, may actually do so. That plan that you’ve been working on for so long may actually come to fruition. At the very least you just may be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The New Moon in Cancer on the 20th is offering you the opportunity to finally bring closure to something you’ve been trying to tie up for ages. However, this is not the end. It is only the beginning.

Capricorn

For the past few years you’ve been sorting out your closest, most intimate relationships and partnerships. Some may not have made it through the gauntlet. But those who have stayed around are likely to be there for the long haul. It might even feel like you’re getting a second chance to do things the right way. But within this sorting out of relationships, you’ve also been sorting yourself out: finding yourself in the scheme of things. And it hasn’t always been easy, even though you’ve learned a lot about yourself in the process. Now armed with this knowledge about what is or is not right for you, you can go with greater confidence, knowing that you are ready for this next stage, both in your personal life and in your relationships. Either you’re in it for the long haul. Or it will become evident that you are barking up the wrong tree. Either way, the New Moon on the 20th is reminding you that this is the first day of the rest of your life.

Aquarius

With this second New Moon in Cancer, you are being given another opportunity to follow through, or breathe new life into what you were trying to get started with the Eclipse on June 21st. Mercury was retrograde for most of the time since then, delaying, reevaluating and reassessing your current circumstances, putting a damper on your plans. Whether that involved a work situation, or perhaps a health condition that needed to be tended to, you may come to appreciate the delay. Now that Mercury is direct again, followed by another New Moon in Cancer you can begin to look forward to what may come. But not so fast. Now that Saturn has returned to Capricorn you are going to be still preoccupied with tying up some loose ends that are still unresolved. Taking care of this unfinished business will help clear the way, allowing you to make a whole fresh new start later on.

Pisces

Children, joy, laughter. Those are the topics for Pisces when we travel through the sign of Cancer. And with the second New Moon in this sign for the season, it’s doubling down on all things related to love and daring you to dance in the spotlight of your life. But this is not your usual sort of dance. 2020 is not your usual type of year. There are qualifications to your happiness, and certain sacrifices needing to be made to maintain it. Yet despite that, as you sift through who or what needs to stay and what needs to go, it will become more evident where your heart truly stands. And the New Moon on the 20th is giving you the assurance of knowing what that heart wants. Perhaps something already started will be given a second wind. Or perhaps a heart project that you were thinking about in June will be given new life. You’ve had plenty of time to sort things out while Mercury was retrograde. Now it is looking a bit like you are ready to follow through and make an even deeper commitment.
