Horoscopes: September 2nd ~ 9th

“Mercury” as captured by Mariner 10 in 1973

For Mercury retrograde through the houses in your Solar or Natal chart for the coming weeks:

Aries

(7th House) This week Mercury is appearing to slow down for its retrograde station which occurs on Sept 9th/10th. Mercury is in Libra, a sign that has associations with all of the important relationships and agreements with others in your life. So it is not uncommon for you to find yourself reassessing and reviewing your relationships with others during the first half of the retrograde phase which lasts thru October 2nd. This is also where you make agreements with others. And if you have been negotiating and brainstorming any plans with others, this is when you will be hashing out all of the little bits and details, the conflicts and the commonalities. Just know that this is not necessarily the best time to commit to a plan, as it will probably need revisions later when Mercury is direct again. Do go over those bits and pieces, but know that often what seems like a great idea while Mercury is retrograde will begin to show its issues after Mercury is direct again (in October). Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is a good time for reassessing, revisiting or recommitting to the important relationships in your life.

Taurus

(6th House) Mercury is slowing for its retrograde station this week. And as it does so you will observe a shift in consciousness and awareness, as it turns within. This particular retrograde phase of Mercury which lasts from Sept 10th thru Oct 2nd, is a good time to reassess your daily routines or reconsider any health issues, diets or daily regimens. You can toss out things that are not working, while trying others on for size. This is not usually a time to commit. But it is a time for exploration, and considering that there may be better ways to manage your daily routines and support your well-being. Mercury is in Libra as it stations retrograde, which is a sign of moderation, and if your life has been feeling imbalanced, this is your opportunity to restore that balance, further opening up additional opportunities for greater peace and serenity. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is a good time to remediate any lingering health issues, revisit the gym, tweak your diet, or reassess any health or fitness regimens. It is also a good time to reassess your job, what you do, and your workplace environment.

Gemini

(5th House) Being a Mercury sign, Gemini is often aware of the shadows and stations of the Mercury cycles. This week Mercury appears to be slowing for its retrograde station on Sept 9th/10th. And as it does so you will observe a shift in your perspective, as your attention is looking within. The retrograde phase can bring the usual inconveniences in our daily lives. They are also opportunities to take an inner inventory, process and assimilate all that has occurred over the previous weeks and months. Taking this time to reflect and absorb also allows you to go more deeply within yourself. To connect with something that is central to your being. Like an inner spark. For now, you are being advised to step out of your own way, worry less about doing, and producing, in order to be able to connect with that primal center that is you. The place where the potential for joy resides. And just be. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is also good for reconnecting with children, or revisiting a hobby that you once held so dear. It is also an opportunity to get back in touch with your own creative potential: your own heart center, and inner child.

Cancer

(4th House) As Mercury slows for its retrograde station on Sept 9th/10th, you will find yourself reflecting on the past. Events, circumstances, mementos can act as a catalyst, sending you down the annals of your life. This is often when we find ourselves reminiscing, reflecting and trying to process the events, as far back as childhood, and the impact that they have had on the person you are now. Don’t be surprised if some old ghosts decide to rear their heads. Know that they are on their way out if they do. They are just passing through. And when they are gone you will find yourself reassessing and revising any previous coping methods. For what you could come to realize is that there might be better places, better ways, better methods to recharge your emotional batteries, and get your life back on track. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is also good for going back home, family reunions, getting in touch with your parents, or embarking on a mission towards improving your home environment and family relations.

Leo

(3rd House) Mercury is a planet that has to do with our perspective and our perceptions, and as it slows for its retrograde station on the 9th/10th of September, you can almost observe your perspective shifting. That can also include giving yourself permission to change your mind. But perhaps the greatest gift you can give yourself during the retrograde phase that will last 3 weeks, is to allow yourself to be inspired. Think bigger. Be willing to look at things from another perspective. The retrograde phase is not a time for making important decisions or commitments just yet, but it is a good time to try on different ideas for size. Just know that often what seems like a really good idea when Mercury is retrograde, will look differently when Mercury is direct again in October. In the mean time, be inspired, find your muse, or it will find you. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is great for reconnecting with siblings, old classmates and neighbors that you once knew so well. Revisit old haunts, return to the old neighborhood, and reminisce about the way things used to be. Study and review an  old topic or subject in order to gain a better understanding.

Virgo

(2nd House) Virgo will often be aware of the shadows and stations of the Mercury cycles, as this is your ruling planet. This upcoming retrograde phase of Mercury which begins on September 9th/10th is asking you to rephrase your priorities. And to reconsider how you use and invest your valuable time, money and resources on a daily basis, so that these will better support those priorities. We are creatures of habit, and tend to do things the same way each day through our routines. The stations of Mercury are an opportunity to look at our lives, our routines, our habits from another perspective. And if you are not making enough time for those things that truly are a priority in your life then perhaps you can look for ways to do so during the upcoming retrograde phase of Mercury. That can include things like scheduling days entirely dedicated to yourself, devoid of the shoulds, the have-to’s and the commitments to others. For it is in these spaces that we not only find ourselves, but realize the things that matter to us the most. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is also a good time to balance the books, pay off any debts, and reassess your finances. It can also bring compensation for work done in the past.

Libra

(1st House) Not everything we know, not everything we want to say, can be easily put into words. Nor do they necessarily need to be shared with others. You are entering a period of inner personal reflection. As Mercury slows for its retrograde station next week, you are being asked to get to know yourself a little better. Your mind and your perspective is gradually going into reflective mode, and turning within. Other people’s experiences can be a catalyst for uncovering your own buried memories and experiences. Use these to gain important insights about yourself, your choices, and the ways that you relate to others. But especially the ways that you relate to yourself. Pay attention to what is coming to the surface for it is telling you something about yourself, and showing you the ways that you have grown, learned and evolved over the years. Know that giving yourself permission to release, forgive and move on from what was, will prepare the way for ever better things to come in the future. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is a good time to remediate any lingering health issues, or embark on a mission towards improving your personal image.

Scorpio

(12th House) Mercury is slowing down this week for its retrograde phase which lasts from Sept 9th/10th thru October 2nd. And as it does so you will find your attention gradually shifting to the past. Any activities that might help to facilitate that process could benefit you now, for this is precisely what the retrograde phase of Mercury lends itself to. For Scorpio this particular retrograde is an opportunity to reconnect with yourself. Things long forgotten can rise to the surface, and so can all sorts of drives and feelings. But there is also a remarkable opportunity here to connect with, or be inspired by some sort of big vision for the future. Make this your lodestar for the next several weeks, and by the time that Mercury is direct again in October, you can then explore the steps you might want to take in order to make your inspiration a closer reality. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is a good time to revisit or receive some sort of message from the past. Secrets are revealed and memories resurface.

Sagittarius

(11th House) As Mercury slows this week for its retrograde phase that begins on Sept 9th/10th, you could see your attention shifting towards some sort of big vision for the future. You probably won’t be able to hammer out any details until Mercury is direct again after October 2nd, but it is an opportunity to explore the possibilities that are available to you and to reflect on what you had longed for in the past. One thing that could become apparent, is that the hopes and dreams of the past may no longer be appropriate for the person you are now, and who you are hoping to become. The retrograde phase of Mercury is an opportunity for you to re-program your inner gps system, by connecting with the dreams that you hold now. In the process, also be open to different points of view. There may be better options than what you had previously thought. Keep an open mind, and be willing to look at things through another perspective, and it can open you up to all sorts of new ideas and possibilities. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is a good time to revisit a dream that you once had, and to reassess your group affiliations.

Capricorn

(10th House) For the past 15 years, Capricorn has been working really, really hard to reinvent themselves and their lives. And as Mercury slows for its retrograde phase which begins on Sept 9th/10th you could also find yourself reviewing and reflecting on all that you have since accomplished. And how much further you are capable of going! Mercury makes an exact opposition to Jupiter this weekend, which due to the retrograde phase of Mercury will last all the way through to the 20th of September. In some way you are being asked to expand your vision for the future and be inspired by bigger and better possibilities. The retrograde phase which lasts until October 2nd, is not usually a good time to make major decisions or changes (that will come later), but it is a good time to reassess what you have been doing, and to explore all of the potential that awaits you in the future. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is good for taking some time out in order to reassess your goals, redefine your status, or re-think your career or plans for the future.

Aquarius

(9th House) As Mercury slows for its retrograde station on Sept 9th/10th, you will find your attention and your perspective gradually shifting as well. One of the things that these periodic retrograde phases of Mercury offers us is the ability to look at ourselves and our lives from a different perspective, or through a different lens. And this in turn can be greatly influenced by the perspectives of others around you. A conversation in the grocery store, something you read in the newspaper, or discover on the internet, will make you aware that there is a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. And so much more to be learned. It also can open you up to the wild idea that you don’t have to keep doing things the way you have in the past. That there might be better ways of living your life, looking at the world, and engaging its inhabitants. They may not always speak the same language, be on the same page, or see things the same way you do, but that’s the very thing that is so compelling. Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is also a good time to re-take an exam, become better informed on a subject, edit a manuscript and re-explore how you feel about an issue. It can also be a good time to take a trip and ‘go back’ to a place you had been to before in the past.

Pisces

(8th House) Take advantage of the upcoming Mercury retrograde phase that begins on Sept 10th, to use your tremendous powers of visualization, in order to better connect with your own potential. Your capacity to do so will be further facilitated by an opposition to your ruling planet Jupiter, which is exact this weekend, and will last through the 20th of September. This is a rare opportunity to plan ahead, while releasing the things from the past that you no longer need, and may in fact be holding you back. Jupiter wants you to free yourself up for better things. And perhaps even consider growing beyond your previous expectations of yourself. Jupiter which is currently retrograde will be returning to your sign at the end of October in order to complete any unfinished business. In the mean time as we approach the Mercury station, ask yourself, What would my own bet life look like for me? And what can I do to facilitate that?  Note: this retrograde phase of Mercury is also a good time to balance the books, pay down your debt and call in what is owed you. Could bring the resolution of a long overdue deal or promise.
