For the New Moon in Leo for your sign or natal house, click below:

Aries

(5th House) A sense of adventure, perhaps due to a startling new discovery, and just a greater willingness to take risks could find you going in a new direction. Mars in Virgo is bringing you the courage to take that first step, or to try something new. The results could prove to be rewarding in the end. New Moons are about new beginnings, so enlist the help of the lunar cycle if you wish to start something new or change something up. The New Moon in Leo on August 16th is just the sort of moon to work with. For Aries, Leo is a sign of personal and creative self-expression. It is a sign that inspires us to: create something (anything!); to invent, express yourself, flirt, dance and rediscover what it means to feel joy. The sign Leo dares you to consider what makes you special, what you might consider to be your brand, or your style. Leo is also the sign associated with children, and that includes connecting with your own inner child. Things to focus on for the New Moon: making the intention to rediscover joy, have more fun and pleasure in your life; finding comfort with yourself and your own style; not feeling like you need to conform; and connecting with those people and things that bring you joy. On the day of the New Moon, declare to the planetary gods that: I want all obstacles to joy and happiness lifted from me.

Taurus

(4th House) Uranus traveling in your sign since 2018 has been attempting to reorient you to a whole new reality. And just when you think you have reached a new level of awareness, Uranus throws in a new element that changes the picture entirely. New Moons can be just that sort of turning point, especially when they are tied up with Uranus, as the New Moon on August 16th will be. And that can be true as well when retrograde Venus is also square Uranus, as it was last week. The New Moon in Leo on the 16th falls in your Solar or Natal 4th house, which is where we usually prefer things to be safe, reliable and predictable: in the area of home and family. New Moons are about new beginnings, but this one is also asking us to make some adjustments to whatever changing circumstances are occurring. What changes or adjustments might you want to make in the home or family that will allow you to have greater security in the long run? Are there some habits or behaviors that you might want to change? This is the Moon to work with, to make positive intention and commitments to do things differently. I want to see myself interacting with family members and children in a way that brings greater joy to myself and everyone concerned.

Gemini

(3rd House) When the New Moon falls in the house of communications, you may find yourself with an overwhelming desire to look up old friends, reconnect with a classmate, cousin, or sibling and have a bit of a chat. This would be especially so for those people who hold a place in your heart, but that perhaps you have not connected with for some time. This is your opportunity to do so. This is especially so, as Venus is also retrograde, and luring us to those people and things that once made your heart sing. What the New Moon in Leo could be good for: following through with a new interest; taking up a new study; finding the opportunity to have your say and speak your mind; making it a point to learn something new; and making it a point to look at something from another point of view. This is also an excellent time to take advantage of your immediate environment, explore your neighborhood, get to know some of your neighbors, look for inspiration from events, people and venues in your immediate environment. Fill your mind with that which inspires and fills your heart with awe. A good intention for the New Moon on August 16th might be: May I remember what it feels like to look at the world through the eyes of a child again.

Cancer

(2nd House) For Cancer, the New Moon in Leo brings concerns about safety and security. Do I have enough? Do I need more? This is when we look for ways to make what we do, worth our while. That can include creating or tweaking a financial plan for the year ahead. But it is also a time in which you might want to pay attention to building more confidence, greater self-esteem and self-worthiness. But in order to do this well, you are also being asked to connect to your innermost desires, wants and needs first. There is a difference between what you want and what you need, but is it possible to acknowledge both? To feel deserving, and to open your heart to receiving? What might need to change in your perspective in order to allow this to happen? A good intention for the New Moon in Leo on August 16th, might be: May prosperity be mine in a way that harms none. But perhaps the best way to use the New Moon is to consider those things that are most important and meaningful to you, and then figure out ways to make them more of a priority going forward.

Leo

(1st House) The New Moon in Leo is the first step of your solar or natal new year. Like an awakening into new life, you are being asked to begin anew. But in order to do that you must remember what it means to connect with your most basic desires, your loves, your passions, the things that make your heart sing with joy. Ask yourself, what it is that you want to share with the world? What would it take for you to step back out on to the stage of life? A good intention for the New Moon on August 16th might be: May I be open to the changes within and without, that will allow me to be a truer and more authentic expression of my true self. It sounds like a mouthful, but the New Moon in our own sign is the place where we begin, and where we take that first step out on to the stage of life. With the planet of changeability, Uranus looming over you, you may be required to redefine your image, what you call yourself, how you appear to others. Whichever direction you see yourself going, whatever new role you may be taking on, allow yourself to be seen, exactly as you are. And when you discover those things that make your heart sing, and fill your heart with passion, allow that to be your guiding light throughout the year ahead.

Virgo

(12th House) Usually when we think of the 12th House we think of those things that we want to finish, or that need to be released and cast out of our lives. It is a house of endings and completion. But it is also where we go to connect with our spiritual center. In some ways this is perhaps even more so when the New Moon is also in Leo, the sign of the heart, and our most heart-centered aspirations. What is possible with this New Moon: is to discover what is hidden in our hearts and minds; secrets are revealed, or something that had been hidden in the past now comes to light; or to be able to revisit the past through your memories or dreams. This would be all the more so with retrograde Venus also in Leo. For this is when we find ourselves longing for those people and things that hold a special place in our hearts, and then wanting to connect with them once again. Successfully navigated the New Moon in Leo can bring: transcendental experiences; inner connections with that which we refer to as the Great Unconscious, the Spirit World, the Intuition, or some sort of inner Guidance. This is a great time for introspection and inner realizations. And for those who are creatively inspired, this is also a great time to explore your creative potential. Do clear out that which you no longer need, do take time out to reminisce, reflect and connect with your own heart center. For there’s no telling what you will find there.

Libra

(11th House) New Moons are about new beginnings, and the New Moon in Leo is where we go to find our joy. For Libra, that joy is found within your social circles, with friends, your network of associates and through shared experiences. And with Venus also retrograde in Leo, you may find yourself longingly thinking of those who have a special place in your heart and mind. Those with whom you shared heart-felt experiences. Use the New Moon to reach out to those that you once knew so well, and would like to have back in your life once again. But also allow yourself to connect with those hopes, wishes, aspirations, experiences that will bring you heartfelt joy. The 11th house is your wishing house. Therefore each year that the New Moon falls in this house affords you the opportunity to cast your wishes out into space. But in order to do so, this first requires you to connect with those heart-centered hopes and wishes that you would most like to see realized this year. And don’t forget to include the intention to: Welcome joy, laughter, freedom and abundance into my life.

Scorpio

(10th House) A trine between your ruling planet Mars and Uranus can help you to make any positive changes with the upcoming New Moon in Leo. Mars/Uranus brings a greater willingness to try new things, or step out of our usual ways of doing things. One thing that you may become aware of is that there are alternatives in life, and you don’t necessarily have to keep doing things the same way you always have in the past. For Scorpio, the New Moon in Leo can bring new opportunities through your work, or to do your work in a new way, or with a new attitude. It is also a very good moon to use for setting goals for yourself that you would like to see accomplished. (9th House) When the New Moon falls in Leo, Sagittarius will often find themselves wistfully longing for farther lands, or thinking about their next best journey. Whether by land or sea, or through some sort of inner journey, this is when you find yourself wanting to expand your horizons either physically, mentally or even philosophically. Sagittarius is often poised for adventure, and/or to learn more about the world we live in. Therefore with the New Moon on August 16th, you might want to focus on: Expanding your knowledge; being willing to look at an idea from another point of view; planning your next trip or grand adventure; learning something new, enrolling in an educational program, or expanding your awareness (and your horizons) in other ways.  And because Sagittarius is Sagittarius, don’t be surprised if you hear from someone overseas that you once knew so well, or you find yourself connecting with someone from another background or culture. There’s something to be learned in every corner of your life when the New Moon is in Leo. A good intention for this New Moon might be: May I allow my inner guides to bring me precisely where I need to be in order to fulfill my destiny.

Capricorn

(8th House) When the New Moon falls in the 8th house it brings certain things to the surface that you normally would not want to think about or deal with. Such as: The Inevitability of Change; Impermanence; Endings and Beginnings; even our own (or other’s) mortality. This then leads to other questions, such as: Am I prepared for all eventualities? And if not, what more do I need? This is a good moon to finally get around to writing that will; to making sure that you have enough resources, that you have sorted out all that needs done in order to embark on the next transition of your life. The 8th House also has to do with those things we normally don’t want to talk about with strangers or in public, such as: Sexual issues; fears; habits; obsessions, and things that we feel we don’t have any control over. And yet here we are. Being asked to see these as a natural part of life, and the life cycle. Use the New Moon in Leo on August 16th to: take the steps to address and conquer your fears; release unwanted habits or self-defeating behaviors; prepare yourself for any future eventualities; release yourself from unwanted commitments; and then make space to welcome joy, laughter, and abundance back into your life.

Aquarius

(7th House) The New Moon in Leo each year offers Aquarius the opportunity to make new beginnings concerning partners and other important people in your life. This can include: spouses, best friends, counselors, lawyers, mentors, advisors and even competitors. These can also be people who act as catalysts in our lives, either inspiring us, or allowing us to see that we don’t necessarily have to keep doing things the way that we have in the past. And that there might even be better ways of doing things what we had not previously considered. Be open to alternatives. Be open to change. Be open to welcoming new people and new circumstances into your life. The New Moon on August 16th, could prove to be illuminating. Things you might want to work on with the New Moon: creating more equanimity in relationships; strengthening certain relationships; clarifying mutual expectations; and coming to appreciate your inter-relationships as well as your interdependence with others and the outside world. A good intention for this New Moon might be: May I connect with those people who will help to further me along on my path.

Pisces

Just about anything that helps you to improve either your health and well-being or your work habits and environment. This may mean having to make some adjustments or all out changes in your daily routine or schedule, but it could prove to increase your energy (much needed with Saturn in your sign right now), add more life and joie de vivre to your daily routines, open up your mind and perspective, and even make more room in your life for new creative challenges.
