Horoscopes: August 16th thru the 23rd

by Dan Collier

For the week of August 16th thru the 23rd, be sure to read your Rising Sign as well:

Aries

The Full Moon in Aquarius is often when Aries will receive some sort of rewards or recognition for something they have accomplished. Like a spot light shining upon you from above, it can feel as if you are being seen and appreciated as you see the results for efforts being acknowledged. Aquarius is a sign of freedom, and even the smallest of changes and shifts in awareness that proceed from this particular Full Moon can feel like something of a release. The chains fall away, and you are given the key to the door of the cell of your own making. Embrace it, even if it does feel vaguely uncomfortable at first. The Full Moon is showing you the pieces of your life from a different perspective. And by doing so, it is also showing you that you don’t necessarily have to keep doing things the way you always have in the past. There may be some better alternatives. So pay attention to what you are being shown this week. For all Aries, the Full Moon in Aquarius is about the fulfillment of your hopes and dreams. And whether you receive rewards and confirmation, or are being shown alternatives it is all in service towards achieving these heart-felt aspirations.

Taurus

Normally the Full Moon in Aquarius is a time of year for Taurus to shine, and perhaps even receive some sort of recognition for a job well done. It could also show you what can happen if you make too many promises, take on too much, or say yes to everyone. These are some of the natural consequences of Jupiter being in the sign of Gemini. But as you stand here at the Full Moon, with your ruling planet Venus navigating the pros and cons between too much and too little, you are given an opportunity to look at your life and the role you have played in it with a more objective eye. The Full Moon is here to shed some light on your current roles and responsibilities, asking you what your true feelings are about these, and the sorts of expectations that you feel are being placed on you. It’s not unusual for Taurus to feel seen when the Moon is Full in the sign of Aquarius. Like standing at the top of a mountain, you can see what has brought you to this place and time, while considering all the choices that are now unfolding before you. May the Full Moon bring you the clarity you will need, in order to make the best choices moving forward.

Gemini

Super Full Moons are especially illuminating, as will this week’s Moon be. The Full Moon in Aquarius can also allow you to reach a higher perspective, enabling you to see things ever more clearly. Like standing on the peak of a mountain, it could feel as if you’ve reached a pinnacle in your life. A pinnacle from which you can look back from where you came, but also be able to see a path unfolding before you. This can bring confirmation that you are right on track. But it can also help you to check your course, in case you got off track. This Moon is fabulous for clarifying and recalibrating your plans for the future. All the more so with your ruling planet, Mercury, also in this picture. If your ideas are sound, and you find your message gaining steam, you will find that your plans, and your ideas, will be able to navigate even the most unexpected twists and turns. Also know that a Mercury/Uranus square this week is giving you permission to change your mind, recalibrate as needed, but also to look at things from another vantage point. Changing your mind is healthy and okay, provided you don’t compromise your principles in the process. Therefore also know where you will be needing to draw any lines in the sand.

Cancer

Full Moons can be both revelatory and insightful. Things come to light in extraordinary ways. And the upcoming Super Full Moon on August 19th will certainly be no less. Deep and yet illuminating, things previously hidden can be unearthed with the Aquarius Moon. And as pieces of our lives are brought to the surface, they bring with them all of their associated feelings, yearnings and perhaps even a few dreads. When faced with the inevitability of change, it does also give you an opportunity to release those things that you no longer want or need. That can include old debts, and bad habits that no longer serve you. What can also be unearthed with this Moon are the tools that can help you to make sense of whatever changes have occurred, or might occur in the future. But one cannot help but feel conflicted in times of change. Part of you looks expectantly to the future and the potential it holds. While another part of you looks longingly to a past that can no longer be. Sudden shifts can make you aware of this quandary. Know that any changes, even if they are feeling a little unexpected, can be healing, and free you up for ever better things to come, if you are able and willing to ride the wave of change within the Full Moon tide.

Leo

If your birthday falls on or around the Full Moon on August 19th, you will be all the more likely to feel some unexpected twists with this Super Moon. Astrologically, birthdays are seen as new beginnings each year. A time of renewal. But when a Full Moon falls on or near your birthday, the new beginnings may require you to tie up some loose ends first, or bring an old order in your life to some sort of final conclusion before you make any new beginning. This can be a good thing. Like finally ending a dry spell in your life, and opening up all sorts of new doors as a consequence. This is also a Moon that reminds you of how important it is to be true to yourself, no matter what the expectations of others are. There may be a few surprising shifts in your relationships with others as a consequence. Emotions are all out there when the Moon is Full, and this one is fully energized and impulsively candid. As a result, any tensions that you have been putting up with, will no longer feel tolerable. So don’t be surprised if sudden declarations are made in the heat of the moment. This is a time of culmination, in which events that have been transpiring for some time, are now being brought to some sort of conclusion. And once you step over that line, there will be no turning back.

Virgo

In the middle of the retrograde phase of Mercury, we have a Super Full Moon in Aquarius. This could be both exciting and yet bewilderingly exhausting at the same time, as your life is being riddled with all sorts of unexpected interruptions. Illuminating, distracting and also exhilarating, the Supper Full Moon on August 19th is not likely to go unnoticed. Larger than life, Super Moons not only look larger than usual, they also feel larger. With all of the twists and turns this Moon can bring, do pay attention to your health and well-being. That can include daily activities, and all those things you do to support your well-being. If some sort of issue is revealed, it may take a few adjustments, twists and turns, to set things right again. The one thing you won’t want to do, is to ignore whatever it is that is being brought to your attention as we approach the Full Moon, for that is where your attention is needed. And there’s no telling what can and will come to light with this particular Full Moon, so it is likely to require some adjustments. Also pay attention to any advice received on or around the Full Moon, for you will be grateful for what you learn, even if it requires you to make some unexpected changes in your plans.

Libra

Basking in the rays of the Full Moon on the 19th, and combining that with the retrograde phase of Mercury, it is important for you to come to terms with what you really really want in your own heart. Libra is adept at seamlessly fulfilling the needs of others. But if you were to stop and ask yourself what are the things that you want? What is it that makes you happy and fills your heart with joy? That can include all those things that you are proud of about yourself. And what you do well. When the Moon is Full we wear our hearts on our sleeves. Therefore this is when you are more likely to express your heart’s longings. Proclaim those feelings. Let the world know who you are, and what you are capable of achieving. Even in the face of ambivalence. But the first step on this journey is first knowing what it is that would make your heart sing and shout for joy. And let the world know. You might not have much choice in the matter. For this is also when you are most likely to be in the spotlight. Embrace the moment. Show the world what you are capable of achieving. And bask in the light of the Full Moon on Monday, in ways that you fully deserve to be seen.

Scorpio

We were our feelings on our sleeves during the Full Moon. The Full Moon in Aquarius can be coupled with feelings of vulnerability The sort of vulnerability in which your deepest feelings, and secrets from the past, are being exposed and laid bare for all to see. And despite appearing totally composed on the outside, there could still be a lot of conflicted emotions swirling beneath. The Aquarius Moon could find you caught between your personal and outer lives, as you sort through your priorities. New information, new circumstances, could be changing the picture. And if one area of your life is taking up space at the expense of another, you are being given the opportunity to restore the balance. It may be that you come to a deeper appreciation for those that emotionally support you, and serve as an emotional foundation in your life. But if these are feeling destabilized or threatened in any way, you may find yourself standing at a crossroad, and compelled to have to make some important decisions. It is probably best to wait and see what is coming to the surface with the Full Moon on Monday. And once you process any new information or circumstances, you can then begin the work of sorting out the various threads of your life.

Sagittarius

What ideas are you holding on to, perhaps about yourself, someone else, or even life itself, that is no longer valid for who you are and where you are right now? What ideas are needing to be overhauled, overturned, and literally changed in the light of the upcoming Full Moon on Monday? Things emerge during Full Moons. Things are revealed. Things that you might not have even been aware of before. And what you learn within the ambit of the Full Moon could even be life changing as a result. It could also be that you are no longer able to keep certain information to yourself. You just can’t hold it in any longer. You just have to have your say. Full Moons indeed are often revealing, either by you suddenly and unexpectedly finding something out, or because you feel compelled to illuminate others. And with this Moon it could be shockingly so. But perhaps the most important thing about the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19th, is that you are being given permission to change your mind, and even your own point of view. Therefore be open to what you are seeing, hearing and learning. But also be prepared to have a change of heart.

Capricorn

Full Moons can bring things to a culmination, or bring things to an end. But sometimes they can also serve as a crossroad. And the Full Moon on Monday is more of the latter. Circumstances are changing from day to day, and just when you think you have your bearings, another unexpected detour emerges from left field. For Capricorn, the Full Moon in Aquarius can bring things to a head concerning finances, personal property, and matters of self-worth. The more secure and stable you are, the better able you would be to weather any unexpected detours. But if you have been feeling somewhat stuck in certain obligations or responsibilities, this Moon could also serve to free you up. To free you up in such a way that you no longer feel reliant on the approval and support of others. It could even feel like something could be taken away with this Super Full Moon, but if that is the case, it could also present with opportunities to find new and more reliable sources of self-worth and self-esteem, that do not depend on the whims of others. Use the Full Moon on Monday to sow seeds of abundance, reminding yourself of how much you do have, and what you have achieved up until now. Then cast your gratitude out to space, for you never know what it will bring back to you in the future, when the sentiment is returned in kind.

Aquarius

The Full Moon on Monday, August 19th, falls at 27º of Aquarius, and will most affect those who have their Sun, Moon or Ascendant at or around this degree (this includes those born between the 14th and 19th of February). However, all Aquarians will feel themselves basking in the light of this spectacular Super Full Moon. All the more so because so many Aquarians have been at the edge of some critical crossroads in their lives now that Pluto is moving into your sign. Pay attention to what is coming to light about yourself within the ambit of this Moon. And any changes that have already occurred, are occurring, or you are planning on making could find you scrambling to adjust to some new circumstances. And it may seem at times that you don’t even recognize yourself any more. And if you were to stay the course with where you are currently headed, the Full Moon can also give you a bird’s eye view of where that is all going to be headed. Even now, with the Full Moon in your sign, you are being shown the results of certain causes previously set in motion. And if you are happy about the results you see, what more can you do to help support that trajectory? And if not, what adjustments might you want to make going forward?

Pisces

So many things can be revealed in the light of a Full Moon. And this will certainly be true with the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19th. Even things once thought lost, or that you had forgotten about, or were hidden beneath the fold can emerge from out of the shadows when the Moon is Full. As a result, you may see things in a whole new light, which in turn can allow you to make better and more informed decisions. And this can be true even if what is being revealed is not necessarily what you wanted to know or see. Memories from the past, dreams that reflect those you once knew so well, connections made but never lost, can return like pale ghosts of what once was. These can be fond memories, or things you never knew. But whatever is being highlighted and revealed with the Full Moon this week has some sort of relevance to who you are as a person deep down where it really matters. This is because the Full Moon is shining a light on your own subconscious mind. And do not be surprised if it is not exactly what you had expected. For guidance can come in a myriad of forms, but the Full Moon in Aquarius rarely lies.
