Take it to the Ballot Box

October 12th ~ 19th

I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends… that if they would stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them. ~ Adlai Stevenson Jr.

I haven’t been political in a while. At least not on this page. We have an expression here in New York: If you see something, say something. And with Mercury edging up to the square to Mars, a lot of people are going to have a lot to say. There is a brief hiatus (if you can call it that) in the astro-weather: a lovely Mercury/Venus conjunction in intense and mortifying Scorpio will both square Mars this week. Mercury in Scorpio is not usually loud, but it gets to the point. And Mercury in Scorpio doesn’t forget. Neither does Venus retrograde in Scorpio. Which is the point I’m going to make here.

On the day that the Senate narrowly voted in an accused sex offender for a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land; Venus stationed Retrograde in Scorpio. Meanwhile, the New Moon in Libra last week was being strangled by Pluto. Justice and Equality were being subjugated through an abuse of power and control, and a wounded Venus went into retreat. There’s one thing to know about Scorpio: it’s a Fixed Sign. I imagine the assumption was made that people will be angry, they will storm the capital, they will wring their hands, and then they will forget and move on. They underestimate the power of Venus in Scorpio… retrograde. Not that the GOP Senators know anything about Venus in Scorpio. A word of warning: She is fierce. And she does not forget.

Venus, the Divine Feminine, may have taken a setback. She may be wounded, but she has not given in, nor given up. Scorpio has layers upon layers, and is seriously deep. And the way she copes with her wounds is to hold on to them and nurse them. And those wounds are going to be nursed all the way to the ballot box on November 6th, the day that Uranus returns to Aries, and the true Node moves into Cancer, forming an exact, revolutionary, one-of-a-kind, awesome, t-square. Venus will still be retrograde, but she will have returned to Libra by then, for some unfinished business in the area of Justice and Equality.

Even before we get there, we have a really crazy Full Moon on the 24th, that may or may not have anything to do with politics, but looks tremendously unstable and unpredictable. We’ll be talking about that for the next few weeks!

The thing is, we can have all the astrological indicators, omens and trends on our side, and it still amounts to nothing but a hill of beans, if you don’t follow it up with Action. We’ve got this pissed-off, passionate, courageous, and maybe a little obnoxious, Mercury/Venus conjunction coming up this week. Use it locally, use it vocally, make your feelings and passions count. And for those living in the United States, mark your calendars: Vote on November 6th.
