October 29th ~ November 5th
I have seen many storms in my life. Most storms have caught me by surprise, so I had to learn very quickly to look further and understand that I am not capable of controlling the weather, to exercise the art of patience and to respect the fury of nature. ~ Paulo Coelho
Be willing to look in the places that you would normally avoid, the dark, the uncomfortable, the places where our fears and demons had been sequestered. Be prepared to look beneath the surface, and be also prepared to be amazed. For there is no telling what will suddenly emerge out of the darkness in this weather. We will be entering Eclipse Season in November and December, when things can often become unpredictable, and it could feel a bit like the hand of fate is rearranging all the pieces on the board. But even before the end of the year eclipses, we have the New Moon in Scorpio on November 4th. Dazzling, mysterious and illuminating, we cannot help but look. But once seen and illuminated in this way, we can never unsee it again.
Beginning with the New Moon in Leo on August 8th, we began a series of New Moons that would be entangled one way or another with startling and unpredictable Uranus. The New Moon in Scorpio on November 4th is exactly opposing Uranus, in the same degree, in opposite signs. By the time this series of New Moons is completed at the end of April, it will feel for many as if the world as they knew it will never be quite the same again. Our worlds are about to unlock and unravel, all at the same time.
Change can be difficult, especially when it feels as if it is being imposed on you, which is how it can feel with oppositions. And this will be especially so, because this New Moon is also activating the lingering Saturn/Uranus square, which becomes exact for the final time on December 24th. With these squares a part of us will cling to what we knew and were accustomed to, and what we are not ready to let go of, while having to adapt to a new reality, that is relentless. For some these sudden changes and awarenesses will be more dramatic and mind-shifting than others, but we’re all riding this evolutionary roller coaster of change, some how and somewhere in our lives.
Uranus at its best is a planet of individuality and originality. When positively expressed it allows for honest and authentic expression, brilliant and ingenious discovery and invention. In our own lives it can bring sudden realizations, opportunities to grow, new and useful technological innovation, and can awaken us to new possibilities that we hadn’t seen before. Uranus also has its shadow side, which is marred with controversy, shocking secrets, contrarian attitudes, and even what could feel like chaotic destruction. Uranus can bring mayhem and madness when misused. But it is also our path to revelation and raw creative genius. May we use it well.
When we least expect it life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened, or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny. ~ Paulo Coelho
There is another layer to this madness leading up to the New Moon. In September, Mercury stationed retrograde while square Pluto and opposing Eris. And as Mars later came into the picture as well, we were forced to acknowledge the darker places of our lives. Places that could have felt like treachery, betrayal, or like we were being forced out of our comfort zone in some way. We were all being plunged into the underworld of our lives, and scrabbling for ways to come back up to the surface.
Scorpio is a sign of secrets, and with the New Moon exactly opposite Uranus, like a lightning bolt lighting up the darkness, all truths will be coming out into the light. And with Mercury opposing fearless Eris and square Pluto, no stone will be left unturned, until we have figured this all out for ourselves.
Know also that when Mars finally leaves Libra and enters its domicile on Saturday, he will be taking off the kid gloves and picking up his weapons on the way out the Libra door. Mars is going to be strong, willful and determined when it enters its own sign of Scorpio, strengthened and fully armed once again. With Mars back in form, be prepared for some fireworks mid-month in November when Mars opposes Uranus at the height of the Lunar Eclipse. For what is being brewed at the New Moon this week, will be triggered by Mars on November 17th.
This is a month precipitating change, and many will be feeling the transitions that this weather can bring. However, also know that Mercury is repeating yet another transit from the time of its retrograde station in late September, and that is its trine to Jupiter in progressive and forward looking Aquarius. This was when we were being asked to connect to our own highest truths, and our own personal vision for the future. Jupiter stationed direct on October 18th, and it means to inspire us to grow beyond our previous expectations. Jupiter represents our highest values and aspirations. May these be the light that guides us through these interesting times.
The New Moon sets the tone for the month ahead. And with the upcoming Eclipses, it could feel like almost anything can happen, be revealed, or come to a head. With the New Moon on November 4th, make the intention to be open to the changes that are being brought to you, for they are trying to open up your life to possibility. Resisting them will be futile. It may take a little adjustment, but doing so will bring growth in ways that you might not have even thought previously possible. You will find that if you resist any changes that are necessary for your growth, you will feel extremely restless and trapped. In some way we are outgrowing our current (or in some cases, former) circumstances, and it is time to be free to explore these new and untried paths.
If you wish to make intentions or set affirmations with the New Moon in Scorpio, you would want to do so within the New Moon phase which begins here in New York at 5:14 pm (EDT) on November 4th (which is 9:14 pm Universal time), and continues thru Sunday, November 7th. Some things that this Moon would be particularly good for are:
Initiatives for remodeling, self-improvement, transformation, rebirthing, reinventing and rebuilding something better out of the ashes of what once was.
Having the courage to change the things that need changing, and the patience to accept those things that you cannot change.
Giving yourself permission to leave or back out of a situation that is proving to be more costly than it is worth.
Becoming an instrument and an inspiration for positive change.
Becoming aware of your own unrealized potential.
Tuning in to your own profound and magical powers of divination and visualization
